He hurried to block her path. "Lass." Grabbing her forearm, he said…nothing. Instead, his gaze traveled along the length of her. Twice.

"What do you want, Jamie?" She’d not get caught up in his soulful amber eyes. No, she would not.

"You’ve had your bit of fun, but I want you to come home." He tilted his head to one side and drifted
his fingertips along her bare arm.

She yanked away. "I’ve come to get my papers from you, to say good-bye to those I love, and to move on with my life." She stepped around him and continued down the path to the center of Glenhalish. "I’ll be at the Kierlain House until Sunday. Please bring the forms and leave them with the front office."

"I don’t have them." He nearly shouted with glee. "I tossed them out."

"I thought you might say that." Smiling on the heels of another small victory, she fished through her handbag and pulled out another copy of the divorce papers. She’d come armed with a half-dozen copies just in case he chose to be difficult. She strode back to him with her chin held high and slapped the papers against his chest. "Here."

Sneak Peek Sunday!

Welcome back to Sneak Peek Sunday, where authors post 6 paragraphs of a published work or a work-in-progress for your enjoyment! To see who else is participating, visit here!

Now, for my sneak peek.....

Over the last 2 weeks I've shared snippets from my June 5th book, Carry Me Home. This story is set in the Scottish Highlands and is a contemporary romance. This sneak peek picks up from what I posted last week. Mary MacDougall has only been back in the Highlands for seconds and she's already struggling with herself and her husband. To read the opening of the book, click here. To read last week's snippet, click here.

And now, for this week's 6 paragraphs.....

Nothing had changed. Making this trip had been the right decision. The sooner their marriage was over, the sooner she could move on with her life.

"Thank you, but I’d rather you brought me the signed divorce papers." She flexed her fingers around the suitcase handle and started down the stairs.

With the flowers still in Jamie’s hand.

A small smile crossed her lips. She’d take any victory she could. This would be a fierce battle.

"Mary, wait." His work shoes clumped down the wooden stairs.

Please keep me strong.

Sneak Peek Sunday!

Welcome back to Sneak Peek Sunday, where authors post 6 paragraphs of a published work or a work-in-progress for your enjoyment! To see who else is participating, visit here!

Now, for my sneak peek.....

Last week I said I'd be sharing snippets from my upcoming book, Carry Me Home. This story is set in the Scottish Highlands and is a contemporary romance being released on June 5th! This sneak peek picks up from what I posted last week. Mary MacDougall has just gotten off the train in her Highland village after 6 months away. To read last week's snippet first, click here.

She crossed the brick bridge over the track, her heels clacking against the stone in time to the rhythm of the wheels of the case. By the door to the one room station house, she stopped. "You."

Standing by the stairs to the parking lot with his hands behind his back was the man who’d stolen her heart and trampled it until there was nothing left. Jamie, her husband.

And yet, her old ticker still stuttered.

Damn. She had hoped to have at least a few hours to steel her nerves before confronting him. But no, here he stood, tall and big and so tempting. Her gentle giant with his well-trimmed beard and his wild red hair hanging too long.

"Hello, love." His smooth voice enveloped her like a perfect summer dress.

All she’d learned about herself over the last six months came to her brain. She was her own woman—confident, sexy, independent. He had lost the right to call her love when he'd all but forgotten about
her…back then. When she had needed his strong arms to hold her up, he jumped into work at the family’s pub and left her to deal with her pain alone.

Well? What do you think? Let me know!

Sneak Peek Sunday!

It's time again for Sneak Peek Sunday! A bunch of authors share six paragraphs from a published work of theirs or a work-in-progress. To read more about Sneak Peek Sunday, visit this website. As for the sneak peek into my own work.....

In 3 weeks and 3 days, my next book will be available! Carry Me Home is the name of it and I'm soooooo excited! Early reviews are saying good things! So, as I'm working on promo ideas for it, I've decided to share snippets with you from Carry Me Home each week for the next 4 Sundays. Today's snippet is the opening of the book. I hope you like it! Please let me know what you think!

Mary MacDougall tossed the edge of her scarf over her shoulder and reached for her suitcase handle in the overhead compartment of the train. Six months was a long time to be away from everyone she knew and loved. Much had changed with her. Would anyone notice? Or would she fail and return to the woman she used to be?

With her case in her hands, she descended the stairs. When she stepped onto the Glenhalish platform, her stomach curled. Sunshine brushed across her face. She turned up to it, closed her eyes, and inhaled the scents of her home. Sweet heather and freshly cut grass from somewhere.

Aye, she loved Edinburgh, but Glenhalish held her soul.

Had held it until she’d run away in the dead of winter.

As the train closed doors and chugged onward, Mary reopened her eyes. She’d be reboarding in four days’ time, with everything she owned and the signed papers that granted her freedom.

Hopefully.

Sneak Peek Sunday!

Welcome back to another edition of Sneak Peek Sunday! To find more awesome sneak peeks, visit the Sneak Peek Sunday site here.

And now, here's the sneak peek of my book......

Today's peek is from my 2nd Honor Guard story, Fractured Paradise. In this scene, my heroine, Rachel, is in a boat rowing toward the shore from her grandmother's island cottage. She's been cleaning it up for several days and this night was supposed to be her first night staying in there. Only, too many strange and scary noises make her run for the boat and start rowing toward the mainland. Halfway to the shore, her boat starts taking in water...way too fast.

I hope you enjoy!

A bubble of panic formed in the center of her chest. Whipping her head around toward shore, she spotted both her cottage and the beacon of light coming from the parking lot of Dawson Tours. Which was closer?

On the island, she would be alone until someone decided to check on her, which could take days. Quick decision—go for the shore.

Rachel rowed faster away from the cottage and mouthed the words to the only prayer she remembered from her youth. Water gushed into the bottom of the boat now, swishing around whenever she moved her feet. The shore remained too far out of reach.

She cupped her hands and bailed frantically, but she would never be fast enough to keep from sinking. Her heart thumped against her chest, in her ears, and picked up speed. "Help!" she cried. "Somebody help me!"

But no one would hear her. Her throat tightened. Just how deep was this section of the sea?

One of her oars scraped along the edge of the boat and disappeared. "No, no, no!" She stretched out to grab it, but the boat rocked beneath her, flipped up on its side, and dumped her.

Sneak Peek Sunday!

Hello! Welcome to Sneak Peek Sunday, where authors bring you six paragraphs of their work. To find out more about the participants, visit here. As for me and the work I'm bringing you, this is a snippet from my 2nd Honor Guard book, Fractured Paradise. I love this story, set in northern England with an American heroine trying to fulfill her grandmother's wishes and "fighting" with a run-down home...and a local lad......

Rachel had come to the United Kingdom years ago to accept the job of a lifetime. She’d come to this city, if you could call it that, today at Nan’s request. Tonight, she came to the Thrush and Hound Pub because she seriously needed a drink.

Hopefully, the pint of lager sitting in front of her would help ease the panic that had settled into her bones after an afternoon in the cottage. She was beginning to think she’d bitten off more than she could chew here. How the hell had she let Nana talk her into this?

She should be in her element, searching through digitized documents for the bodyguards of the IPN, instead of carrying out this ill-fated secret mission for her grandmother.

She sipped her lager, took a deep breath, and scanned the pub. The building was twice the size of that dilapidated cottage, and with a much cozier atmosphere. It sported wooden tables and pictures of when Sunderland shipyards were in full swing. An area with darts and a big screen TV lay on one side separated by an ornately carved wooden railing. A sense of warmth welcomed her from the moment she’d stepped inside.

Then again, maybe that was just what she’d hoped to find after the strange encounter with Aidan Camden. She set her pint back on the bar and traced lines along the glass with her finger. Clearly, he didn’t want her around now that he knew she didn’t intend to sell the cottage, and yet she couldn’t stop her hormones from reacting to him.

The bell on the front door of the pub chimed. The bartender looked up from loading glasses in a dishwasher and waved. "Hello, Aidan. What can I get you?"

Well? Did you like it? Are you intrigued? Check out more of the story for free here!

Sneak Peek Sunday!

Welcome! Today's blog post has a new name. Instead of Section Sunday, this day's posts will now be called Sneak Peek Sunday! Several authors are joining together each Sunday to bring you six paragraphs of one of their works. Find out more about it here.

Today I'm bringing you six paragraphs from the Tease Entice book I'm editing right now, Silent Surrender. I don't have a release date for it yet, but it's soooooooo coming along and I LOVE these characters! Meggie and Quinn had a fling in his hometown of Dublin eight months ago. Now he's come to her Highland village of Glenhalish (From Her Highland Champion and the June Tease book Carry Me Home) to find her and explore the connection they have. She is worried about her reputation in her tiny village. In this scene, they've just been making sandwiches for a group of people watching football at her house when he starts this conversation. Let me know what you think!

“Meg, I wanted to explain about the picture. I’m sorry I seemed insensitive to it, but try seeing it from my point of view. People recognize me all the time. Some ask for autographs, others want pictures. Some take what they want without me even knowing it. When I first started coaching and people recognized me, it drove me mad. But the reality is I can’t control everyone’s movements. Unless it’s something that’s truly offensive, I don’t get angry about it anymore.” He pulled her knuckles to his lips and kissed them. “And I really did love that picture. I went to the store and bought more copies of it.”

Why did warmth coil in her belly at those words?

Quinn invaded her space and cupped her cheek. “It’s a wonderful picture of you with your ginger curls, that purple shirt molding to your lovely curves.”

“Don’t.” But she didn’t push him away.

His thumb swirled along her skin and the scent of him invaded her nostrils. “Why do you fight it? Us?” His lips brushed over the shell of her ear. Dizziness swirled inside her brain. So much she wanted to give in, to fall back into his strong arms, to feel the muscles in his chest, his back, to surrender to the beautiful experience she could have with him. But she had too much to lose.

She raised her hands, planted her palms on his chest. To ward him off, aye?
