Six Sentence Sunday!

Welcome to my snippet for Six Sentence Sunday! You can find other participants here.
This week I'm sharing a snippet from my current work in progress, Silent Surrender. I'm hoping to get a HUGE chunk of work done on it this coming week so that I can submit it to my epublisher by the end of January. This is a short, contemporary romance set in the Scottish Highlands. If you read my first book, Her Highland Champion, you'll recognize the setting and some of the characters. The heroine in this story is Meggie MacDougall who works part of the time in the family pub and part of the time in the B & B from that first story. Here's the really, really unofficial blurb for this story so far:
To Quinn O'Connell, working as a football coach meant everything to him until a chance encounter with vacationing Highland lass Meggie MacDougall showed him just how to live.
Well? What do you think? Yeah, I know, the blurb's not that great, but I'm pretty happy with my six sentences. See if you agree!
He'd come to find a woman, but he'd bought the train ticket before he could think this plan through. What if she didn't remember their wild, sex-filled weekend when she'd come to Dublin? No, that wasn't likely. He had enough faith in his ability to charm and satisfy a woman, but what if she didn't want to see him? That was entirely possible, but he wouldn't let it discourage him. The bottom line was he'd come for Meggie and Quinn was used to getting what he wanted.

Six Sentence Sunday!!

Good morning! Are you ready for six more sentences of Simple Treasures, my Honor Guard novella releasing TUESDAY????? I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!

To read more snippets of other people's books, visit the official list here.

Okay, for this week's snippet, something dangerous has just happened. I'm not telling you what because....wait for it.......wait....for....it....you need to read the book! Colin and Joanna are back in his hotel room and Joanna begins by saying:

"We could’ve died tonight."

He crouched before her and took her hands in his. "But we didn’t, and you survived."

"Because you were there."

"I don’t plan on going anywhere yet." He brought her knuckles to his lips and kissed them.

<<<SIGH>>> I love him! But more importantly, what do YOU think? Hey, if you're so inclined when you have some time this week, I'll be having a holiday release party here beginning Christmas Day and lasting through New Year's to celebrate my Hogmanay book! I hope you'll join me for part of it!

Six Sentence Sunday Time!!!

Hello, hello! Here we are for another Six Sentence Sunday! To read more snippets from other authors, visit the main list of participants here.

As for my snippet, I'm bringing you another bit of my next Honor Guard novella, Simple Treasures. It releases on Christmas Day and is a Hogmanay, or New Year's, romantic suspense set in Edinburgh, Scotland. (I'll be having a release party, so be sure to check back for more details!!!) In this snippet, the heroine, Joanna, has just survived an attack. I won't go into much more detail because I don't want to spoil it for you since you're ALL going to buy it when it comes out, right? She's just slid into the car's passenger seat and Colin, the bodyguard hero, is circling the hood.

Despite the weather being warmer than the last few days, a chill still ran rampant over her spine. In the space of twelve hours, she’d become a Hogmanay tourist with a big-ass bull’s-eye on her back.

Colin’s large body slid behind the steering wheel. He, of course, didn’t look worried at all.

She’d spent four years in the military, had been injured downrange. One man would not bring her down.

Well?????? Are you intrigued yet? Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Six Sentence Sunday- Next Novella!!

Good morning! For today's Six Sentence Sunday, I decided to share a bit from the soon-to-be-released Simple Treasures, my New Year's Honor Guard story coming out this month from Decadent Publishing.

In this scene, the hero, Colin, has just told the heroine, Joanna, something she didn't like, something that makes her question his ability to keep her safe. I'm not going into more detail than that right now because I really want you to read the story when it comes out! LOL! BUT, for now, here is Colin's response:

His first day on the job was not supposed to fall apart. He’d be sacked before he even earned a pound note. His nerves clenched. His feet itched to run across the room so he could grab her and set himself between her and the door. But he stayed rooted to the floor where he stood. “Joanna, you’re not to go.”

What do you think? Thanks for visiting! In the next few weeks I'll be sharing more of Colin and Joanna's story with you, to hopefully tempt you to give me a GREAT Christmas present and buy the book when it comes out!

Six Sentence Sunday-Silent Surrender!!!

Welcome back for another Six Sentence Sunday snippet from my current Work-In-Progress, Silent Surrender. If you're interested in reading other authors' snippets, visit www.sixsunday.com for links!

This short story is coming along so well, I'm hoping to submit it to my publisher in about another week. Wish me luck!

Now, if you've been here over the last few weeks, you've met Meggie and Quinn. They had a one-night-stand a while back in Dublin while Meggie was on vacation. Now back home in Scotland, she's mortified to find her favorite Irishman has come for her. She's trying to get rid of him, and has decided to go home and relax. But when she gets home, she finds her brothers (Jamie is one), their friend Duncan, and....you guessed it: Quinn.

“You don’t belong here,” she whispered harshly.
“Do you two know each other?” Jamie asked.

“No,” she snapped at the exact moment Quinn answered, “Yes.”
Her brothers traded glances while Duncan picked at the label on his beer. Except for the commentators discussing the football match, no other sound circled the room.

Why couldn’t the floor open up and swallow her whole?
I'm so excited for this story, and I LOVE this part! What do you think?

Six Sentence Sunday-

Good morning! Welcome to another set of Six Sentence Sunday! To read snippets from other authors, visit the official website, www.sixsunday.com.

This morning I'm bringing you another snippet from Silent Surrender, my short story with my heroine, Meggie, from Her Highland Champion, and Quinn, the Irishman. Here you go!

Aye, she'd had a grand time with him, but she'd left him behind in Dublin. She'd tucked that woman away and returned to her life. It had been a good decision.

Hadn't it?

Now she couldn't be sure because those feelings he released in her all shot up and out of her mind and body. And THAT bothered her more than anything.

So? What do you think? Remember this is the really, really, really rough draft. This snippet isn't as good as the others over the last few weeks, but it still works. Poor Meggie! She has no idea how to handle or what to make of Quinn!

Six Sentence Sunday- New Project!

Good morning! I'm back for another round of Six Sentence Sunday! To see other Sixers and their snippets, visit the website.

Today I'm sharing a brand new story with you. I'm currently writing a story, a straight romance, no suspense, called Silent Surrender. I have to warn you it's VERY rough. I'm not even finished with the rough draft. (Hopefully soon!) But Quinn and Meggie are burning up the pages of my notebook! So, here you go!

This had to be the absolute dumbest idea he'd ever come up with. His players and fellow coaches were prepping for the friendly match with the Scotland National team and he, Quinn O'Connell, had taken a train ride to chase after a woman.

What did he expect? That they'd sleep together again and then she'd send him on his way, off to maneuver young lads through football techniques and strategies?

When he dipped into Waverley Station and bought the train ticket yesterday, this had been a grand idea. Now, standing in the lass's Highland village with no way of searching her out and nowhere to stay the nights, he felt like a fool.

What do you think? I can't decide where Quinn is from. I want him to be Scottish, but he keeps telling me he's Irish. We'll see who wins that argument! Meggie is a secondary character in my first Honor Guard book, Her Highland Champion. I loved writing her so much I knew immediately that I'd want to write her story at some point. (But this isn't an Honor Guard book.)

Thanks for visiting! I look forward to your comments.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday! Today I'm sharing the last snippet of my book Fractured Paradise. It will be released on Tuesday! And now, for the last snippet of my 2nd story:

Accusing the brothers had been foolish. She knew that. "This is totally why I spend my days behind a computer desk."

Suddenly spending the day alone on the island didn’t hold the same appeal as it had when she first got up. She pushed the door open and stepped into the chill of the morning air. At this moment she wanted…Aidan.

Well? What do you think? Be sure to come back this week because I'm celebrating ALL WEEK. There will be prizes and a game and....well, I won't spoil the surprise. Just drop by when you can to learn more about this book and me, and to get into the running for a prize!

Six Sentence Sunday

Good morning! Today I'm bringing you a suspenseful snippet of mt upcoming release, Fractured Paradise. (It comes out Tuesday, November 6th!) I think it's pretty self-explanatory. Enjoy!

After two straight days of working in the cottage, Rachel thought she was ready to spend her first night there. She’d scrubbed, swept, and rearranged furniture.

But now that she stood in the center of the living room with her pajamas in her hands, her suitcases against the rocker, and noises coming from the walls, reality did not live up to her dreams.

Wind whistled an eerie tune through the cracked windows despite the plywood she had managed to hammer in place yesterday afternoon. The wood burned in the fireplace, yet a chill overtook her body.

Thump, thump.

There you have it! Feel free to leave me a comment or to look back at previous snippets from other Six Sentence Sundays. For more of today's entries, visit www.sixsunday.com!

Six Sentence Sunday- Fractured Paradise

Happy Six Sentence Sunday! I meant to post last Sunday, but between a crappy football game, some heavy partying, and preparing for a vacation, I TOTALLY forgot to post last week. But here I am this week bringing you more of my upcoming Honor Guard release, Fractured Paradise. The book comes out November 6th and has already gotten some GREAT reviews.

In this snippet, we're introduced to Gemma, a friend of the heroine (and hero) who lives in Sunderland and works at the hotel Rachel uses. They're having breakfast in a local restaurant and the hero, Aidan, has just walked away from their table.

Gemma leaned low to the table. "’Ere, do you fancy him, then?" she whispered.

"What?" Rachel jerked her head back to meet the gossip queen’s gaze, which sparkled with the possibility. "No." The denial was instant, strong, and definitely a lie.

So, what do you think? Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know. And, as usual, if you have more time, visit www.sixsunday.com to find more snippets from more authors.

Six Sentence Sunday- Fractured Paradise

Good morning! Welcome back for another Six Sentence Sunday. I am still bringing you snippets from my upcoming release, Fractured Paradise. So far, the snippets have been more romance oriented. This week I'm switching to more of the suspense angle.

In this six sentences, Rachel and the hero, Aidan, have been out together and are arriving back at her grandmother's cottage. She's been cleaning it up for her grandmother's return. They've just walked inside the front door and....

Her insides curdled more with each step she took into the home. All her work was ruined. Dirt and trash littered the floor. The rocking chair her grandfather had made lay in pieces. In large letters, spray painted on the wall opposite the fireplace was a clear message: Yank, Go Home.

Rachel's knees buckled.

Thanks for stopping by to read my six! Feel free to leave a comment. For more snippets from other fantabulous authors, visit www.sixsunday.com.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome back to another edition of Six Sentence Sunday! Today, we're still on the 1st page of my book Fractured Paradise, which is due out November 6th.

She’d given up her seat in front of a flat screen and a keyboard back in Edinburgh to execute her nana’s fanciful ideas of returning to Sunderland. Rachel had agreed only because it was for Nan, but….

"This, I did not
sign up for." Tears pricked at the corners of her wind-burned eyes, threatening to rip her resolve to shreds. Getting here had been hard enough. It wasn’t fair that her island of paradise looked like the summer cottage from a teenage horror movie.

Well? What do you think? Let me know and check out some of the other Six Sentence Sunday authors on this site. Have a great day!

Six Sentence Sunday

Good morning! Welcome to another edition of Six Sentence Sunday! Today I'm sharing the opening six sentences to my next release, Fractured Paradise. (Coming November 6th!!!) Yes, I'm going backward with my snippets, but I absolutely LOVE this opening. I hope you do too!

In a perfect world, Rachel Grant would be sitting on the back porch of her grandmother’s English cottage sipping a pint of lager while watching the boats ferry tourists across the North Sea.

But this wasn’t a perfect world.

The small cottage she’d been sent to "tidy-up" stared at her with broken windows, exterior walls missing wooden slats and stone, and a thousand years of neglect. Uncontrolled grasses choked the once vibrant and sweet-smelling gardens. Her sanctuary, Nan had called it? Maybe sometime in the last century.

Six Sentence Sunday

Welcome back for another Six Sentence Sunday! Today, I'm sharing another snippet from my soon-to-be-released book, Fractured Paradise. This is later in the story than last week's snippet. I don't want to share too much about this scene in case you decide to buy the book when it comes out, but I will tell you that the heroine, Rachel, has just gone through something frightening, and of course the hero, Aidan, is by her side. Enjoy!

“Your lips are trembling.”

Slowly, he eased his hold on her, but he did not release her completely. His fingers remained at her waist. The intimate touch unleashed a wave of desire within her. This man became more of a temptation to her with every encounter.

“Maybe I’m a little scared, too,” she admitted.

Six Sentence Sunday-Fractured Paradise

Hello again! Welcome back for another snippet of Fractured Paradise, my romantic suspense novella coming to you soon! This week's snippet picks up right from last week's. You can reread last week's here. Hope you enjoy!

Aidan closed his eyes and pressed the heel of his palm against his forehead.

“Hey, are you all right?” she asked.

The gentle caress of her voice was almost as deadly as the fair touch of her fingertips to his wrist. His blood steamed under his skin, tinder threatening to burn with an ache so deep he’d forgotten what it felt like. So long he’d gone without a woman in his life, in his bed. Perhaps this was his body’s way of saying 'get on with it'.

Six Sentence Sunday

Good morning and welcome to my next installment of Fractured Paradise! This is my next book, which should be released soon. This is the story of an American woman trying to do something special for her grandmother and the Englishman who is determined to thwart her plans. Last week Rachel was walking down the street and caught up to Aidan coming out of a store. This week we're in Aidan's point-of-view while he's with her. (Brooke was his wife in the past.) I hope you like it!

Okay, here you go!

What was it about this woman that prompted him into action, into banter he’d never been comfortable sharing with Brooke? With his free hand, he reached up and caught the loose strands of her hair in his fingers and tucked them behind her ear, his fingertips lingering against the shell.

“Thank you.” She allowed that tongue to swish over her lips, moistening them, taunting him, all but begging him to taste them for himself.

He snatched his hand away and stepped back. Where had those thoughts come from?

Six Sentence Sunday

Good morning and welcome to my next installment of Fractured Paradise! This is my next book, which should be released sometime in the next couple of months. This is the story of an American woman trying to do something special for her grandmother and the Englishman who is determined to thwart her plans. Funny thing, though. They're kind of attracted to each other!

Okay, here you go:

As Rachel passed the Roker Pier Lighthouse, she spotted her rival exiting the grocery store a few blocks away. He carried a brown paper bag.

Her stomach curled. Tingles sparked behind her breasts and shot right into her abdomen. Damn it, why did her body react every time she ran into this man? E-n-e-m-y.

Six Sentence Sunday- Fractured Paradise

Good morning and welcome to my next installment of Fractured Paradise! This will be my next release. As soon as I hear the release date you can bet I'll let you know!

In last week's Six Sentence Sunday, I introduced you to Rachel and Aidan, the hero and heroine. Rachel was sitting alone in the pub, but then Aidan came in and sat right next to her. They're already at odds because she's there to clean up her grandmother's abandoned cottage for her grandmother's return and he wants to buy it. At the end of last week's snippet, Aidan called her by her first name and she loved the sound of it falling from his lips. This week's snippet picks up from there. (Trevor is her former boyfriend.) Enjoy!

Her insides melted even as her brain ordered her to ignore the reaction. Good grief, what was wrong with her? Camden equaled enemy. Trevor had wanted her dad’s social circles. Camden wanted the cottage. They weren’t that different.
